How and why we collect your data
We collect the personal data of individuals who: enquire to trade at our events; are current or previous traders at our events; are potential traders whom we have had previous contact with (in real life or through online/email enquiries); are event organisers who have enquired about market stall hire and/or whom we have hired stalls to; are individuals who help us in the course of running our events and stall hire service, including suppliers, contractors, labourers, performers and others.
What we collect
We collect only the minimum and relevant personal data required to operate our business. This can include: name; email; phone number; business name. In addition we collect necessary business data that may include identifiable personal details. This can include: insurance details; payments received into our bank account; business website address and social media profiles.
Where we hold your data
Personal data is held in the following places: Gmail and Google Drive; 1&1 webmail contacts; plus phone numbers are held in our mobile contacts list. We process payments from traders through our business bank account.
Through Mailchimp we send a newsletter with information about upcoming events that are directly relevant and of legitimate interest to our contacts. Individuals are invited to sign up to receive these newsletters through our website and online application forms, and all newsletter recipients have the option to unsubscribe at any time.
Our website domain name is registered with 1&1 and hosted by WordPress. Cookies are collected by WordPress for functionality, security, analytics and performance. All visitors to our website are informed of cookie collection on the homepage, with the option to find out more before continuing.
The Market Stall Company has active social media profiles on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. We often receive private/direct messages from individuals enquiring about events and occasionally we will send private/direct messages to individuals who follow/like our profiles. Any personal data created through these messages remains within each platform and we do not use it anywhere else, unless we are given explicit permission by the owner of the personal data to contact them in another way.
In common with many small and independent business owners, we place our trust in the security of the platforms we use to run our business, and we are careful to comply with their own terms of service, security and privacy settings. Should you have any concerns, we would be very happy to provide you with links as to how each of the platforms named above comply with GDPR and other data privacy regulations.
And a final note…
We have written this policy in preparation for the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into force on May 25th 2018. It is based on guidance and advice gleaned from the Information Commissioner’s Office, and from the platforms we use (all mentioned above). We have tried to be thorough, but should you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
